{"id":11974,"date":"2021-01-08T09:54:31","date_gmt":"2021-01-08T09:54:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ndarason.com\/?p=11974"},"modified":"2021-01-08T09:54:31","modified_gmt":"2021-01-08T09:54:31","slug":"boko-haram-raid-geidam-burn-down-shops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ndarason.com\/en\/boko-haram-raid-geidam-burn-down-shops\/","title":{"rendered":"Boko Haram raid Geidam, burn down shops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A large number of suspected Boko Haram insurgents \u2013 riding motorbikes and driving in cars \u2013 invaded the Geidam Local Government Area on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>A source, who wanted to remain anonymous, said although the market was crowded, the insurgents did not interfere with anyone. \u201cThey acted as if they had not even seen us and passed by,\u201d the source told RNI reporter <strong>Alhaji Shariff Bura<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Another source, who also wanted to remain anonymous, said the insurgents burnt down many shops, all owned by small-scale businessmen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are no longer safe. We always thought we were safe here but the raid by Boko Haram insurgents has proved us wrong. We have nowhere to go other than our local government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The source claimed that two people were abducted, one of whom is the district head of Ma\u2019arla.
