The book was publicly presented on the 10<sup>th<\/sup> of October by the non-governmental organisation, the Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development.<\/p>\n<p>The Hausa word \u201cboko\u201d means <strong>Western education<\/strong>, and the Arabic word \u201chalal\u201d means <strong>not forbidden<\/strong>. So boko halal is the direct opposite of boko haram, which means Western education is forbidden.<\/p>\n<p>Boko Halal was originally written in English but now has abridged translated versions in Hausa and Kanuri.\u00a0 The 160-page book, with 10 thematic chapters, presents a well\u00a0thought-out manual of peace education, promoting tolerance and peaceful\u00a0coexistence.
