Army spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu, a brigadier general, disclosed this in a statement on Monday. According to him, the eight terrorists died during two different operations. The first incident took place on Monday at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wulgo, Borno state. The figures were collated by PREMIUM TIMES manually from media reports and therefore do not include incidents that were not reported. According to Mr Onyeuko, the surrendered terrorists comprise 3,243 males, 3,868 females and 6,234 children. The surrender of hordes of insurgents to state forces in Nigeria is not strange. What makes the recent desertions different, however, is the massive scale.
