{"id":24120,"date":"2022-06-17T14:22:11","date_gmt":"2022-06-17T14:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ndarason.com\/?p=24120"},"modified":"2022-06-17T14:22:11","modified_gmt":"2022-06-17T14:22:11","slug":"soldiers-foil-damboa-attack-and-send-insurgents-packing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ndarason.com\/en\/soldiers-foil-damboa-attack-and-send-insurgents-packing\/","title":{"rendered":"Soldiers foil Damboa attack and send insurgents packing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brief \u2013 Soldiers foiled an attack on Damboa in Borno State on Thursday, June 16, by stopping members of the Jam\u0101\u2019at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da\u2019way Wa\u2019l-Jih\u0101d (JAS) in their tracks before they could even enter the town \u2013 and then chased them away.<\/p>\n<p>Abubakar Fetkema, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force, told RNI reporter Fanna Usman that the attackers arrived in two military trucks and on three motorbikes along the Biu Road.<\/p>\n<p>The military, using heavy firepower, stopped the attack and sent the JAS, better known as Boko Haram, packing before they could reach Damboa. There were no casualties.<\/p>\n<p>Fetkema urged the Borno State government and the military to reopen the Maiduguri-Damboa Road which has been closed for three years because of security concerns. He said people travelling to Maiduguri or Damboa had to find different routes which sometimes made it a 24-hour trip instead of one hour.
