In Brief – Insurgents, thought to be members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), attacked Debro village in the Biu Local Government Area of Borno, on Sunday, December 12, looting items from shops and houses before setting them alion fire.
RNI reporter Aisha Jamal spoke to a resident, Usman Sallihu, who told her the attackers stormed into the town at about 5pm. They were shooting haphazardly but there were no known casualties.
Sallihu said the town did not have any troops and residents relied on vigilantes to protect them. “We in Debro are aware of the insecurity we live with but there’s nothing we can do about it. They attack us when they feel like. Attacks are frequent.”
