Our topic today, in Kura Bari Program is: Did the France-Africa Financial Summit provide a glimmer of hope?
On May 18, French President Emmanuel Macron hosted several African leaders in Paris. Among them were Moussa Faki Mahamat, the chairperson of the African Union Commission, Akinwumi Adesina, the head of the African Development Bank, and representatives of other global financial institutions.
The aim of the summit was to counter COVID-19’s economic impact on African countries and also to review the debt burden of African countries during this trying time.
Considering the reality on the ground, experts have offered different opinions on the expectations and outcomes of the summit.
