“Kura Bari” is RNI’s new current affairs debate programme, an open space for radio Ndarason to showcase subjects aimed at stimulating discussion and resolving differences. Kura Bari promotes a dialogue aimed at enhancing the well-being of the populations of the Laker Chad basin, a population which has been living in a state of insecurity since 2009 due primarily to the presence of Boko Haram.
In Kanuri, Kura Bari is the word for a large carpet on which people of diverse origins meet to exchange about subjects related to their well-being.
The “Kura-Bari” program will feature experts and actors from the countries of the Lake Chad Basin exchanging on topical issues such as peace, security, reconciliation, governance, society and development in the Lake Chad basin. .In addition to the presence of experts around the discussion table, the populations of the communities will also have their say through featured testimonies that tell their stories and share their experiences.
The hour-long show is produced by a group of journalists in N’djaména in Chad and Maiduguri in Nigeria. It is broadcast every Saturday on short-wave across the Lake Chad basin region and on FM in Chad from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with a repeat broadcast at the same time on Sunday.
In addition to the hour-long version of “Kura-Bari” broadcast on FM and on shortwave, the version of the show produced in Chad will be available in a podcast in French.
