Brief – It has been a year and seven months since internally displaced persons returned to their home in the Baga Local Government Area and life could not be better for the residents who are enjoying the new-found peace in the region.

Hassan Baba Jemi told RNI reporter Nana Hadiza Mustapha that agriculture was thriving which meant there was enough food for the people and the availability of food had brought the prices down. “We buy one bowl of maize at ₦500 and we have abundant fish in rivers.

“People from surrounding areas, such as Alikaramti, have also returned so the number of people is increasing.”

He said the floods that hit other parts of Borno State had not occurred in Baga.

“The only thing that is missing is a stable network. We want the authorities to repair the telecom services.”
