Brief – One man was killed and two others wounded when a rocket launcher projectile hit their home in the early hours of Monday, February 21, in the Gamboru-Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.
Ba Audu Mamman, a resident, told RNI reporter Rukaiya Ahmed Alibe that the insurgents, thought to be members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), arrived at 2am.
“We heard gunshots sounds in the night. When we woke up we saw that the rocket launcher had hit the men’s house and Gamboru Central School, burning down three classrooms.”
The deceased had been buried and the wounded men were receiving treatment in hospital.
He said troops had surrounded Gamboru-Ngala to ensure such an attack would not happen again.
