Brief – Two soldiers and two civilian joint task force (CJTF) members – one of whom was the chairman of the security agency in the area – were killed by insurgents in the Gubio Local government Area of Borno State on Tuesday, July 19.
Ari Abatcha, a resident, told RNI reporter Mustapha Abubakar that the attackers were believed to be members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
“The soldiers and CJTF members saw the insurgents coming about 5km outside the town. They exchanged fire and soldiers chased the attackers away before they could enter the town. They fled leaving a car behind, which the soldiers confiscated.”
