Brief – It took just one night for cattle belonging to herders to destroy 25 rice farms in the Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State – and the farmers are furious.

The farmers went to sleep a couple of nights ago and when they woke up the next morning they found their rice paddies were destroyed.

Farmers claimed the herders had broken an agreement in which they had consented to stay off the fields until the end of December by which time the farmers would have harvested their “bumper” crops. Farmers said the destruction had led to them losing millions of naira.
