Schools will resume on Monday, September, 21st in Taraba State north-eastern Nigeria following the recent successes recorded in the fight against COVID-19.
Schools were closed in Taraba and the country at large four month ago as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
During the Taraba state stakeholders meeting which was held yesterday in Jalingo the state’s capital, the state commission for education Musa Jigim said the decision for the reopening of the was made after two weeks of COVID-19 free in the state.
Radio Ndarason International reporter in Taraba reported that, many parents interviewed expressed gratitude of over the decision noting that the school closure for nearly seven months has impacted negatively teaching and learning process in the state.
Haruna Amodu is a parent of three, whose children were at home without going to school due to COVID-19 said he is happy that now his children will be allowed to attend classes.
As the state government is set to reopen schools, the question of students’ performance and safety remained a major concern.
