Former IDPs who returned to Baga in Kukawa local government Area of Borno state are facing serious food shortages and have called on the Borno state Governor to assist them.

RNI reporter Amina Abbagana interviewed people who were previously IDPs in Teachers’ village IDP camp before they returned home to Baga.

One returnee, Hajja Bintu Bukar, complained about the shortage of food and said, “Women and children are suffering due to lack of food.” She urged the state governor to come to their aid.

Another resident, Lawan Wakil Tela from Baga, said “I am calling on the Governor to ensure full accessibility to the road so they can re-start their fish-selling business which will help de-escalate their sufferings.”

As part of the effort made by the Borno state Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum to restore peace to Borno state as a whole, the governor returned Baga IDPs a couple of months ago.

Meanwhile, the Governor has distributed relief materials, cash as well as food items to the IDPs to help them start afresh.
